Busking — build a set list that survives real gigs

The biggest variable in busking is the state of your voice on the day. The key that felt fine at yesterday's rehearsal can be uncomfortable today. ToneBrowser lets you reset the backing track right before the show with nothing but your phone.

A set-list workflow

1) Add your set-list songs to ToneBrowser favourites.

2) Thirty minutes before the show, check each key while you warm up your voice. Fine-tune ±1–2 semitones from the original.

3) Turn on vocal removal and check the backing. If the bass and drums are still alive, you are good.

4) Connect to a Bluetooth speaker (JBL Xtreme class) and set the volume.

5) During the show you can adjust the next song's key in about ten seconds between numbers.

Copyright and performance rules

Playing recorded backing tracks at a busking show counts as commercial use, so depending on where you are, royalty obligations may apply. Rules differ by city and country, and some street performances under a certain income threshold are exempt. Check with your local authority in advance so nothing goes wrong on site.

Take the music into your own hands.
