Language Learning — shadowing without distortion

Listening ability scales with the volume of "sentences you missed, heard again." Normal players distort pronunciation when you slow them to 0.75x, risking learning the wrong sounds. ToneBrowser keeps the pitch fixed and changes only the speed, so you can hear accurate pronunciation slowly.

A three-pass shadowing routine

1) One pass at original speed — grasp the overall flow.

2) 0.75x with an A-B loop — shadow sentence by sentence. Pronunciation is clearly audible.

3) 1.25x review — training faster than real speech creates a "speed buffer" that makes normal speed feel slow.

Recommended speeds by language

English (news, drama): start at 0.75x → review at 1.25x.

Japanese (drama, anime): start at 0.85x. Drop to 0.7x for fast-talking scenes.

Chinese (tone practice): 0.7x, where the tones are clearly audible.

French / German (heavy liaison): even 0.6x stays free of pronunciation distortion.
